Beware!! Ducato/Boxer Rusty Sump

Before you head off into the harsh road conditions of the mountains in search of fine wine and snow.

Ducato/Boxer oil sumps can rust through even after only 3 years or so if you are v. unlucky!
Some seem to have been poorly painted.

Check yours out .

If it is rusty ,first check out the price of a new one ,then any work you have to do will seem well worth while.

Heavy duty ramps are great to raise the front end up,you will be working upside down.

!!!!!!!! Wear eye protection !!!!!!

Don't go too mad scraping off the rust ,just get rid of any loose paint or you may go through!!
If its in the early stages of rust you can go back to the metal. Err on the side of caution.

Degrease and treat any rust with Jenolite or Curerust type chemical.Do NOT just repaint or the rust will come back very quickly.

I use a hairdryer to warm up the metal ,or you could warm the engine or do it in the summer.

It should have several coats of paint. Not like the original!!!

Halfords stock rust treatment and satin finish heat resistant paint.

I hope none of this applys to you.

You know when its a common fault when it starts being called a "feature" at the dealership.
